THQ Wireless has announced an agreement with Team17 Software to publish Worms 2008: A Space Oddity for mobile handsets worldwide. The title is to retain "all the familiar award-winning gameplay and unique sense of humour that has epitomized the brand for more than a decade."
The game is to feature new aspects, including four mini-games, an enhanced single player campaign mode, a landscape view mode and new weapons.
The improved single-player campaign missions are to feature varying objectives, such as defending installations, repairing space crafts and collecing rare minerals. The space setting's weapons, include the Impact Frag, Atom Packs and Cluster Frags, which are based around classic Worms weapons with new artwork and names.
Worms 2008 also features new graphics and new animations, an "advanced landscape generation systems" plus graphical effects including smoke trails and parallax particles.
A new AI system has been developed, "that allows enemy worms to determine the greatest threats, navigate the landscape and unleash a variety of weapons."
Worms 2008 is scheduled to be released in June 2008.
