Mobile media publisher and distribute Player X has announced that it will be co-publishing The Crystal Maze, a mobile title based on the UK's popular Channel 4 game show from the 1990s, with mobile developer Dynamo Games.
This news follows Player X's recent deal to become the exclusive
aggregator for all of O2 and Virgin Mobile UK's mobile games. Player X has exclusive rights to publish The Crystal Maze in the UK, where the game will be available later this month, and in Ireland.
The Crystal Maze will feature the television show's host, Richard O'Brien, who has endorsed the single-player mobile game. Players will need to collect crystals in 20 different mini-games spread over four original zones -- Aztec, Industrial, Medieval, and Future -- before trying to avoid being trapped within the Crystal Dome.
Said Player X CEO Tony Pearce: "The Crystal Maze was a TV phenomenon in the UK and we're confident it will make a similar impact in the mobile games space. This licence is a perfect fit with our raft of TV gameshow mobile games."
