  • Report: VG Mobile Closes European Office [11.25.08]
  • Vivendi Games Mobile (Surviving High School, Cake Mania 2) announced that it has closed its European office and terminated its contracts with partners as a result of parent company Vivendi Games' recent merger with Activision.

The division sent letters out to partners detailing its shuttering, a portion of which was posted by mobile content site mocoNews: "I regret to inform you that, following the completion of the merger between Vivendi Games and Activision, the new management at Activision Blizzard has decided to discontinue our direct presence in the mobile games market."

The office's closure follows Activision Blizzard's sale of UK developer Swordfish Studios (50 Cent: Blood on the Sand) to Codemasters and Monumental Games. Swordfish was also divested along with a number of other assets by Activision Blizzard after its merger.

Vivendi Games Mobile will presumably continue to maintain its offices in North America, which include a team in Los Angeles and a studio in San Mateo, California.
