Developer Hands-On Mobile and Activision Publishing launched Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile with 15 songs available at launch and bonus tracks planned for monthly release. A version for Google's Andriod platform is also coming January 2009.
Like the console versions of the game released in October, Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile allows players to choose drums, in addition to the guitar, as a playable instrument in the game. Players can also create profiles, download new songs, track player rankings, battle head-to-head online against others in real-time.
Hands-On Mobile's first game from the Guitar Hero series, Guitar Hero III Mobile, has reached over 2.5 million game downloads and 65 million downloads since its release in December 2007. A follow-up, Guitar Hero III: Backstage Pass, was also released in July of this year.
"The Guitar Hero franchise has witnessed unprecedented success and will undoubtedly continue to thrive as one of the leading multi-platform entertainment franchises on the market today. We are excited to be an extension of this phenomenon and provide consumers with a dynamic Guitar Hero mobile phone experience," says Hands-On Mobile senior product manager JJ Lechleiter.
He continues, "With the addition of drums, MP3 quality sound on more devices and innovative multiplayer capabilities, we are confident fans and casual players alike will enjoy all that Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile has to offer."
