  • MascotCapsule Eruption Engine Adopted for Resident Evil 4: Zeebo Edition [11.12.09]
  • HI Corporation in Tokyo announced that its 3D rendering engine, MascotCapsule Eruption, has been adopted by worldwide games publisher Capcom for use in Resident Evil 4: Zeebo Edition.

The Zeebo is a console-like entertainment system that downloads game titles wirelessly from a 3G network. Capcom ported the Zeebo edition of Resident Evil 4 from an existing mobile version.

"By using Eruption, we were successfully able to easily port the game utilizing the BREW version," said Capcom general manager of mobile content development Takeshi Tezuka. "In addition, thanks to eruption’s high quality graphics, we can represent our high technologies to Zeebo users."

"It's great to see popular brands like Resident Evil come to the Zeebo platform," adds Mike Yuen, senior vice president of content and services at Zeebo. "HI's MascotCapsule technology is very well known and widely used by Japanese game publishers, and we hope this is just the first of many more great titles to be made available for our system."

Developers also have access to HI's MascotCapsule V3, a software 3D rendering engine featuring Zeebo support. To date, the MascotCapsule V3 and V4 engines have shipped more than 400 million units worldwide.
